AG and RH sit down with Ron Horton, a local CFII and Designated Pilot Examiner.  Ron has an aviation background spanning nearly six decades and he has been recognized for his safe flying and outstanding flight instruction. Ron currently instructs at Aerowood Aviation in Monroe, NC at the EQY airport and conducts checkrides as a DPE.  We discussed checkride preparation, ground and oral scenarios, common pitfalls on the flight portion, and Ron’s advice on how to set students up for success on their next examination.  Ron discusses what he thinks are the two biggest changes in general aviation in the last 50 years and reminisces about his brightest students.
